Join us Monday, October 12 at 6 p.m., for the next installment of the Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series featuring acclaimed journalist Judy Woodruff.
For the past three years, Woodruff has traveled across the United States as part of her groundbreaking reporting project, America at a Crossroads. As the nation approached the 250th anniversary of its founding, Woodruff explored what it means to be an American today, listening to communities across the country and seeking stories of common ground in an increasingly divided era. Through this project, she has highlighted innovative solutions, civic engagement, and the people and organizations working to strengthen their communities.
Throughout her distinguished career, Woodruff has covered American politics and public affairs for NBC News, PBS, and CNN. Drawing on five decades of experience, Woodruff will share insights from her travels, discuss the challenges facing media and journalism, and reflect on the opportunities for bridging divides and fostering a stronger sense of national unity.
Moderated by Roby Brock of Arkansas Talk Business and Politics, this timely conversation offers a hopeful and thought-provoking look at the state of the nation and the stories shaping America's future.

Judy Woodruff is Senior Correspondent for the PBS News Hour, after serving as Anchor and Managing Editor for 11 years. In 2023, she launched “America at a Crossroads,” a reporting project to understand America’s political divide. The series debuted with Judy's interview with President Biden and has continued with reports from nearly 30 states. Her career has spanned five decades, covering politics and 12 presidential elections at NBC, CNN, and PBS.
In 2013, she and the late Gwen Ifill were named the first two women to co-anchor a national news broadcast, the PBS NewsHour. In 2022, Judy was honored with an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement in Television News.
Roby Brock is the CEO of Talk Business & Politics, a 27-year-old multimedia news organization reporting on business and politics in Arkansas. He is also the host of Capitol View, a Sunday morning political show. He is co-host of Recap, a streaming political program that is part of the Nexstar lineup. Brock also moderates radio programs on NPR member stations statewide.
Brock is the owner of Newsroom Ventures, created in 2025, to manage a number of weekly newspapers he has acquired and is reinvigorating. The weekly newspapers include The England Democrat, The Grand Prairie Herald, The Waldron News, The Fordyce News Advocate, The Glenwood Herald, and The Pine Bluff Commercial. He also started and operates The Market at Chenal, a twice-a-year outdoor market and festival in west Little Rock that celebrates its 5th year in 2026.
