Starting Strong in Preschool

Using the four principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a foundation: A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments, and Learning and Development, participants will explore their role in creating high quality learning experiences for children aged 3–4 years. The session will focus on promoting children's independence, supporting learning through play, and building meaningful relationships that help children thrive.

By the end of the session, participants will be confident to:

• Explain and apply the four EYFS principles within preschool practice.
• Identify and support the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning.
• Recognise the importance of developing positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Create enabling environments that support learning, development, and independence.
• Facilitate children's learning through play, purposeful interactions, and responsive teaching.
• Reflect on their role in promoting children's wellbeing, development, and school readiness.
