GTLUG is teaming up with The Fun Factory to host a brand new event. We will be playing Artemis Cosmos, a starship bridge simulator--a game heavily inspired by Star Trek. This is in coordination with the upcoming set release of Star Trek, Magic the Gathering. There will be concurrent card gameplay going on all weekend long.Artemis uses several locally networked computers, to provide various bridge console "stations" (i.e. main screen, helm, communications, engineering, etc.). Games consist of various mission types. The game can also scale from a single bridge, to multiple ships working together.
The Fun Factory will provide the space for us to play. GTLUG, and its members, will provide much of the technology (i.e. networking, computers, etc.), all running some form of Linux (as opposed to Windows or Mac). This is an optional BYOC event, so if you have a machine, Linux or otherwise, you'd like to play on, you're welcome to join the LAN party. The more machines playing, the more stations and ships we can have playing at once.
We are still working some of the out the details, and will likely be discussed further at interim GTLUG meetings. So stay tuned.
Hope to see you there!
