While Mars, Mercury, and blazing Venus set close to the setting sun, the other four planets pop out across the darkening evening sky.
Jupiter and its four big moons will be visible early along with glorious Saturn, with its rings open a healthy 21ยบ. Uranus and Neptune will also climb above the glare as the evening cools.
The Crescent Moon promises to be beautiful, as well.
Bring your telescope or binoculars, your family and a picnic dinner to learn amazing things about the Tehachapi night sky on September 11th. The event will be held in Aviator Park at the Tehachapi Airport and is free to all. Fun and educational workshops and displays will begin at 6:30 pm. With sunset at 7:07, telescope/binocular viewing will begin at 7:30.
