The eleventh in a series of monthly events at The Royal Oak where we seek to promote exciting new and local talent. We are delighted to present 2 fantastic artists who bring their own unique sound to Bath.--------------
Life in Mono
Life In Mono are a Bristol-based band forging a dark, immersive sound that blends post-metal and post-rock into something uniquely atmospheric. Drawing inspiration from icons like Brutus, Portishead, Deftones, and PJ Harvey, their music bristles with raw energy and emotional depth.
Life In Mono are James Davis, Adam DT, Sarah Clayton and Mike Gill.
Their EP, If I Could Sleep, earned BBC Introducing Spotlight status, with Radio 1 airplay cementing their place as one of the UK’s most compelling underground acts. With their debut album currently in the works, the band are set to expand their sonic vision even further.
Following standout headline performances at Exchange, Crofters Rights and Rough Trade Bristol — where fans travelled from across the South West — Life In Mono have built a loyal following through shows described by reviewers as “crackling with intensity.”
Reviewed by the likes of RTÉ and Bristol Gig Guide, and regularly interviewed by BBC Bristol for their experience as local artists, Life In Mono have become a vital voice in the city’s music scene. Featured on BBC News for their wider impact, they continue to bring their electrifying live energy to festivals and venues across the UK. They’re a band not just to watch — but to feel.'

DelayDream
DelayDream (formerly Ria Plays) do not make polite music. They occupy the volatile territory where cinematic art rock, heavy psych rock and swirling psychedelia collide - somewhere between a gorgeous, familiar dream and a cold midnight panic attack.
Driven by hypnotic drums and basslines that alternate between seductive purr and feral growl, coupled with guitars that sound like they’ve been hijacked by a manic cartoon cat, the overall effect is part 80s-inspired darkness and part demented ice cream van.
At the centre of the music is a vocal presence described as an evil Kate Bush, or perhaps an alien menace - a frontwoman who commands the room with mesmerising, otherworldly authority.
Watch out for their debut album landing later this year. The first single Guiding Light will be released in October and has already received airplay on BBC Wales.
