Philippe Mailhot
Over the latter half of 1869, thé Metis residents of St. Norbert, their Parish Priest, and eventually Louis Riel, launched the movement which led to the creation of Manitoba as Canada’s fifth province. Having written and spoken extensively on thèse topics, Mailhot will share some of these stories at the locations where they actually occurred.
Meeting Place & Stops + Walk Leader Info
Meeting place is in front of the St Norbert Catholic Church, 70 Rue Saint Pierre Street.
Stops include: Church grounds, cemetery, thé foot of Rue Campeau, location of the Là Barriere Monument, thé Bon Secours Chapel near the point departure
Walk leaders will welcome attendees as they arrive.
Accessibility
The tours would be in English, but the leader can also translate to French if asked. Sidewalks for the entire distance of about 2.5 km.
