(Kindly note the date & time is different from our usual Thursday events)Since at least the 15th century, the 22nd of November has been an important date for musicians in Western Europe. This is the day in which Christians celebrate St Cecilia, the 3rd century martyr who is also patron saint of music.
As per The Oratories tradition, the day is marked with a special concert that pays tribute to the role of women in music, with a concert of music by female composers performed by female musicians.
This year we are proud to host pianist Milica Lawrence, a performer who has done incredible work in promoting piano music, especially under-represented and contemporary music. This year’s recital reflects Milica Lawrence’s interests with a programme that includes works by French composer Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944) and Croatian composer Dora Pejačević (1885-1923), as well as works by contemporary composers Marlene Moore (Canada) and Kerry Barnes (British).
Performers:
Milica Lawrence, piano
