About this Event
As part of the Great Scottish Squirrel Survey we're teaming up with Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels to look for signs of these charismatic creatures, and learn about the project's work to protect them. We'll connect with nature through the signs left behind in the landscape, and fingers crossed we spot squirrels and other wildlife too!
All ages, genders and levels of experience welcome. Come with a pal or alone - lots of people come by themselves and it's a great way to meet like-minded folk.
The event is free but please book a ticket so we know you're coming.

Location
Blairs Loch nature reserve near Forres. We’ll meet at the carpark to the north of the loch for an introduction to squirrels before heading off for a gentle walk around the woods and loch.

Accessibility
The event will be around 90 minutes of slow-paced walking with stops. We'll mostly stick to the main paths in the woods but they are uneven and can be soft if it has been raining. The paths to some of the hides are also very uneven and narrow. There are benches all the way around the loch and we’ll be stopping frequently.

Getting There
By public transport - Buses and trains to Forres and then it’s about a mile and half walk or cycle to the carpark along roads
By car – Take the A96 towards Aberdeen from Inverness, and take a sharp right just after crossing the river Findhorn before you get to Forres. Follow this smaller road past the equestrian centre and turn right onto the A940. Take the first left, and then a right when you come to a crossroads. The carpark is here.

There are no toilet facilities near the site.
