About this Event

The University of Suffolk is working with DanceEast to organise a public discussion panel to bring together the Ipswich and Suffolk community to talk about what we want to achieve from the City of Culture 2029 longlisting and the ongoing bid process.

Whether Ipswich makes the shortlist, or wins the coveted title, how can we ensure different communities, from young people to regional and town centre businesses, benefit?

It will be part of the University's Spotlight Suffolk series which brings a panel and a public audience together to discuss topical issues that matter to communities in the county.

The discussion will be chaired by University Vice-Chancellor Professor Jenny Higham and takes place on Tuesday 16 June in the Waterfront Building in Ipswich. There will be an introduction from Bryony Hope of DanceEast, who wrote the initial Expression of Interest and will provide an update on the next steps.

Panellists include:

  • Kath Cockshaw, Ipswich Culture and Heritage Strategy
  • Marcus Harris-Noble, Arts Council England
  • Dr Amanda Hodgkinson, Director of Suffolk Centre for Culture and Heritage

Further panellists, including young people, will be announced shortly.
