Join us for the free opening reception of Stillness, a ceramics exhibition featuring the new porcelain sculptural vessels created by Calgary artist Natalie Gerber.
Natalie's research explores the complexity of the embodied feminine experience as it is expressed through the hands of the maker. She states, "To learn and unlearn yourself is humbling, and contingent on your measure of vulnerability. This ethos has permitted me to view my own work and my own self, as something that gathers meaning, and need not be resolved."
This event will take place at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Calgary located on the 2nd floor of cSPACE - Marda Loop.
Free parking is available in the parking lot off of 29th Ave as well as street parking on 30th Ave, 16th and 17th St.
Accessible parking spaces and doors available at the East entrace from the parking lot with elevator located in the middle of the building.
About Natalie Gerber
Born in South Africa (Durban), the Calgary-based artist Natalie Gerber began her studies at The Natal Technikon, in Fashion Design. After immigrating to Canada her interests in textiles developed while studying at The Alberta College of Art + Design, and later through post-graduate studies at the London College of Fashion in London (England). Following a decade focused on her design practice in textile printing, the artist earned her MFA in Craft Media from the Alberta University of the Arts. Gerber’s artistic practice addresses the intersection of craft and design, explored through interdisciplinary experimentation and research in textiles, ceramics, photography, print media and book arts.
