About this Event
Join the Spooky Isles Walpurgis & Beltane Social Evening!
We’re launching a new tradition — seasonal Spooky Isles pub gatherings — and you’re invited.
For 15 years Spooky Isles has explored Britain and Ireland’s haunted history online. Now we’re bringing it back to where ghost stories belong: around a pub table, with a drink in hand.
Our first evening takes place on Walpurgis Night, 30 April in central London — the night folklore says the veil thins and strange things stir. In Dracula, it’s when Jonathan Harker begins his journey into the unknown. At midnight, Walpurgis turns to Beltane, the old spring fire festival of renewal and thresholds. It’s the perfect night to gather, talk and share something uncanny.
The highlight of the evening is an In Conversation with paranormal researcher Ashley Knibb, author of Paranormal Perspectives: The Royal Oak Investigations. He’ll discuss his long-running case centred on a historic seaside pub near Swanage — a story of apparitions, strange coincidences and questions that refuse to go away. Ashley is a Council member of the Society for Psychical Research and serves on its Spontaneous Cases Committee, bringing a calm, thoughtful approach to unusual claims.
Expect conversation, questions, drinks, and a chance to meet fellow enthusiasts — including Spooky Isles founder and editor David Saunderson.
It’s informal. Atmospheric. A little bit liminal.
