About this Event
Organized by the Liszt Institute New York the unique contemporary dance performance of János Feledi entiteld Splinters takes place on May 18, 2026 at 7 PM at the Hungarian House of New York.
About the performance
This performance about us, people, was inspired by the volume of the same title by János Pilinszky. I don’t want to dance the poems; I don’t want to link the world of poems together one by one; I would like to show what Pilinszky’s spirit means to me in the 21st century. In order to achieve this, we need to let this Pilinszky material enter us. At what point are we at the moment in our own lives, in our own development? How are we adjusting to the world, and what point has the development of our personalities and our souls reached? What have we got in common with Pilinszky?
In our souls, in wanting to believe?
We are born. We are starting to experience things. We are starting to go down a path. We form a sensitive, rebellious, yet fragile bubble around us. What is our relationship to the world, where is our place in the world? How do we integrate into the world and how do we understand the world around us? Do we dare to live beautiful, full lives? Confrontation is inevitable. Internal struggle, solitude and finding each other are all parts of life. So let’s dare to see the good in the various situations and stages of life. Let’s believe in ourselves. Let’s believe that we are going forwards if we relate to each other with love. Let’s be brave enough to do some soul-searching and reach forgiveness, until we reach the liberating gift of asking for forgiveness.
Recognising love might be the most important step on the road to purification.
