About this Event
The show tells the story of how a chain of coincidences, worthy of a film, brought the Livorno legend of Modigliani’s sculptures back into the spotlight in 1984. The city attempted to recover them from the Fosso Reale, and three heads appeared, thrilling critics and television alike, who were convinced they had discovered authentic masterpieces. A month later, the truth came out: they were fakes created by mischievous students. Amid outrageous errors, unresolved mysteries, and an Italy ready to believe anything, an hilarious story unfolds about collective deception, the blurred lines between truth and falsehood, and the unintended comedy that made what came to be known as the “Prank of the Century” famous.
