Taste Over Tools - What still makes a VFX Artist valuable in 2026

At a time when AI and emerging technology are reshaping the creative landscape. Kyle Cody (Creative Director from ETC) and Chris Connolly (Executive Producer from ETC) will lead a conversation about why taste, craft, storytelling, problem-solving, and human judgment remain the true differentiators in visual effects. The talk will look at how ETC approaches new tools without losing sight of fundamentals, and how artists can stay relevant by combining technical curiosity with cinematic instinct, collaboration, and a deep understanding of what makes an image feel believable, emotional, and worth watching.

An Evening With...

VES NY continues their new series, a dedicated forum for the region’s premier VFX vendors to showcase groundbreaking work and novel techniques. The goal is to share knowledge, inspire great work, and connect VES members, students and graduates with great companies.

This event is open to VES members and the SVA community and their guests. One guest per VES / SVA member. Please note that an RSVP does not guarantee a seat, we will overbook the event to account for no-shows and seats will be on a first come first served basis. Please arrive prior to 7pm.
