Spiritual Resistance Salons - on Capacity and Resilience

This open discussion is part of a series of salons on Spiritual Resistance, which is organized with one main intention: to sponsor a collaborative discussion space, by the community for the community, to nurture our spiritual connections, growth, resilience and efforts in decolonizing work.

For this month's Salon, our discussion is inspired by Norma Wang’s book: When No Thing Works - A Zen and Indigenous Perspective on Resilience, Shared Purpose, and Leadership in the Timeplace of Collapse. Norma invites us to consider perceiving ourselves as a benevolent creative spirit in the evolution of a chaotic world. This begins, by mindfully acknowledging the place we are starting from, and from there open ourselves to the possibility, that hope, capacity and capability, the same things that we often feel we're deprived from by the oppressive chaos of our times, might be easier to find at the heart of this experience. By sustaining an imagination of a brighter liberated future as a primary method of resistance, we just might find what it takes to leap forward, passionately managing our habits and practices in ways that support our genuine progress towards liberation.

Norma’s insights will be poetically introduced as a grounding invitation into a 1.5hr open intimate discussion about our experiences of building capacity and resilience, things we’ve learned so far, perspectives we’re curious about, and how these interact with our labor of love and liberation in decolonizing work.

This event is limited to 20 people to maintain an intimate nature of discourse. Snacks and tea will be available!

Ticket sales go directly to facility fees, supporting an accessible space for art creation and collaboration in Toronto. If ticket price is a barrier, please contact us through Eventbrite or Instagram and we will make alternative arrangements.
