Workshop Description
Spiralling into Desire is a performance and video art installation tracing a woman’s descent into the depths of her body in search of autonomy, desire, and self-sovereignty. Inspired by The Descent of Inanna, the ancient Sumerian epic attributed to Enheduanna, the work echoes the goddess’s journey into the underworld—a passage through loss, transformation, and rebirth.
Through movement, video, text, and sound, audiences are invited into a liminal terrain where myth and lived experience intertwine. Drawing on Authentic Movement and Natural Dreamwork, the work becomes both ritual and inquiry, documenting an embodied descent into the unknown.
Part of the larger Desire Project, Spiralling into Desire explores how desire lives within the body and what becomes possible when eros is valued alongside logos—when intuition, longing, and embodied knowing are given equal weight to reason.
About the Facilitator
Brinda Sarah Jacob-Janvrin is a movement-based expressive arts therapist, performer, and qualified counsellor with more than 30 years of performance experience. She has worked extensively with movement and arts therapies since 2003 and is a practitioner, facilitator, and teacher of Authentic Movement and Natural Dreamwork. Brinda is deeply passionate about the arts, the mysterious workings of the psyche-soma, and the profound connections between body and earth.
