Join host Scott Woermann for a Saturday afternoon spIN Focus as we drop the needle on John Hiatt’s acclaimed 1988 roots-rock masterpiece, Slow Turning.Recorded with his formidable backing band, The Goners (featuring Sonny Landreth’s dazzling slide guitar work), Slow Turning captures Hiatt at the peak of his narrative powers. The album seamlessly blends gritty heartland rock, swampy blues, and country-soul across timeless tracks like "Drive South," "Georgia Rae," and the deeply resonant title track.
Scott will open the hour with a brief introduction exploring Hiatt’s songwriting legacy, his late-80s creative breakthrough, and the fiery chemistry between the musicians in the room. Then, we turn the room over to a full, uninterrupted spin on our reference-grade audio system—letting every searing slide guitar pass, driving rhythm section, and raspy vocal nuance fill the room with dynamic hi-fi clarity.
Find a comfortable spot, grab a drink from the bar, and spend your Saturday afternoon with a classic slice of American roots rock.
Show starts at 4:00 PM.
