Our informal Speed date the Collection night is an opportunity for the community to ‘meet’ artists’ books from the Collection in an enjoyable way. Participants will become familiar with artists’ books held in the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection in a social, interactive context.How it works: Six artists’ books, six volunteers and ten minutes to experience an initial spark of interest, attraction and connection to an artwork - or not as the case may be!
Following standard speed dating rules participants rotate to ‘meet’ each artists’ book over a series of short ‘dates’. Participants have one-on-one interactions with the help of a trained presenter, then move on to the next artists’ book.
Just like building any relationship, the aim is to strengthen and deepen the community’s connection with the MRC Art Collection. For those who want to spend more time with the artwork, a booking can be made for the Tate Adams Reading Pod at a later date.

IMPORTANT - Please carefully read the terms and conditions before making a booking:
• On entry to Artspace Mackay all visitors to are required to sign the COVID-19 Register
• Individuals are to socially distance from others at all times and it is the responsibility of the individual, parent or carer to monitor this. Current spacing requirements in Queensland are 1 person to every 2 square metres.
• All program attendees must be in good health prior to attending the session (eg. no runny noses, coughs, temperatures). If any of the attendees booked in feel unwell, please cancel your booking.
• Consider carefully your availability to attend the event BEFORE making your booking. Booking cancellations - especially late cancellations - can mean that we may not be able to fill that place, rendering it a lost opportunity for another community member.
• A reminder notification will be sent 24 hours prior to the program.
• By making a booking you agree to all of the above.
