“They sounded amazing! Wait … they’re just kids?!” (Overheard outside our last Stylie Music Studio Student Showcase.)In this special Open Mic, come cheer on the next generation of hard-working and talented musicians … aspiring guitarists, drummers, keyboardists and jam bands of kids like Worthington middle schoolers Eli, Nate & Dash aka E.N.D.
Playing an eclectic set of Clapton, Boss Skaggs, Nirvana, Billy Joel and U2, you’re sure to enjoy the show, with vocals from their music teacher Matt “Stylie” Steidle (owner of Stylie Music Studio of Worthington).
Matt is a professional musician known throughout Ohio for his solo work and band, That’s The Breaks, as well as his unique “Stylie 7 String” playing of a Columbus-crafted hybrid bass/guitar.
Stylie instructor Nick Purcell of the band Mystic Mamba has played Sweeney’s before and hopes to bring his students from the Stylie kid band “Unhinged” out to play some AC/DC, Black Sabbath and a few original tunes. Wouldn’t you want to hear a song about Electric Mushrooms and Oreos?! :)
Stylie students and alumni who are interested in performing at this Special Student Showcase at Sweeney’s should contact their instructor Matt, Nick, Mark Rhodes (CityMusic Columbus, Boys & Girls Club) or Hawa Tarawally (Music Columbus) soon for scheduling!
And while you’re in Franklinton, enjoy the arts district, Makers Social family-friendly craft bar, Rich Street Records, pizza and coffee shops, breweries, COSI, NVMM, Scioto Mile and more!
