I'm looking forward to sharing “Health Happens Here” with the Kiwanis Club of Marietta this week — and showing just how many ways public health touches our everyday lives. I’ll also update the group on some of the most current issues we are working on: West Nile Virus, Measles, A New S. Cobb Health Center, getting ready for flu season!
Lisa Crossman, MS, Deputy Director, Cobb & Douglas Public Health, has been with CDPH since 1997, where she leads partnership and resource development and strategic initiatives while overseeing programs including WIC, Safe Kids, Opioid Prevention, and Family Support. She is currently leading the development of a new South Cobb Public Health Campus and the expansion of the Douglas Public Health Center, two exciting projects that will expand access to care and services for the community. Lisa also serves as Executive Director of the Cobb & Douglas Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CDPH that raises funds to support direct health services for residents in need.
A proud University of Florida Gator with graduate and undergraduate degrees in Exercise Physiology and Physiological Psychology, Lisa has spent more than 40 years improving health and wellness through public health, hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation, and sports medicine. Her community leadership has earned her honors including the Georgia Public Health Community Service Award, numerous Cobb Chamber and Leadership Cobb awards, Cobb Executive Women’s Woman of Distinction, and Marietta Citizen of the Year.
Lisa is active on numerous community and professional boards and loves spending time hiking, kayaking, traveling, dancing, and trying something outside her comfort zone. She and her husband, Christopher, have two amazing adult daughters—and Lisa is a two-time Dancing with the Stars Marietta “People’s Choice” winner, just to keep things interesting!
