🎥 To mark Spanish Cinema Day, celebrated annually on October 6th, we are delighted to screen the Spanish documentary El Desencanto (1976), directed by Jaime Chávarri.
✨This is a collaboration between the Consulate General of Spain , AECID, ICAA, Instituto Cervantes and Spanish World HK, the only officially accredited Spanish academy in Hong Kong by Instituto Cervantes.
El Desencanto (1976)
🎞️El Desencanto, is a landmark Spanish documentary directed by Jaime Chávarri. The documentary functions less as a traditional biography and more as a raw, unsettling family autopsy. The film centers on the family of Leopoldo Panero, the official poet of Franco's regime, who died in 1962. Fourteen years later, his widow Felicidad Blanc and their three sons, sit before the camera to remember him. What begins as a tribute quickly unravels into a bitter, often cruel, reckoning with their shared past.
