Did you know? Veterans are 1.5 times more likely to die by suicide than non-veterans. Central Virginia is home to a community of over 15,500 veterans, hundreds of National Guard and Military Reserves members, and their families.November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. In support of our brave veterans and the recent deployment of hundreds of local National Guard members, the Suicide Prevention Awareness Coalition and Horizon Behavioral Health will host a S.A.V.E. Training that teaches skills for taking compassionate, effective action in the event that a veteran, service member, or their family experiences suicidal thoughts or another mental health crisis.
Join SPA and Horizon on Friday, November 13th from 9:30 AM - 11 AM to learn about using SAVE to support our military community as well as Horizon's Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) Team and the new Crisis Care Center (CRC).
