The aroma of freshly cooked chicken wings will fill the air in downtown Punta Gorda on May 15th! That’s when the Annual Southwest Florida WingFest & Craft Beer Festival comes to City Marketplace in downtown Punta Gorda.Up to 20 Chicken Wing Teams will set up their Wing booths at City Marketplace in downtown Punta Gorda in an effort to persuade the judges and the general public that their Wings are King! The teams may consist of friends, family, service organizations, clubs, non-profits, businesses, or just about anyone who has the desire to make great wings.

Wings will be the focus of the day and it will be scored by a panel of judges that will taste test samples from each of the teams. Judges will score wing samples on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. The Pro Division Wing winners will receive $750, while the Amateur Division Winner takes home $500 and Bragging rights, and a trophy and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 places
There will also be a $750 Award for People’s Choice – Best overall wing. Each attendee will receive a voting token when they enter through the main gate. Collect as many of those voting tokens from people visiting your booth as you can! The Team with the most tokens wins the coveted People’s Choice Award and $750!
People’s Choice Tokens will be collected at 5pm with the winner announced at the Award Ceremony at 5:30pm on the main stage.
What goes better with Wings than an ice cold beer? At the festival, thirsty attendees will have an opportunity to sample different beers from small breweries not always readily available in our area. The Beer Tasting Tent will now feature over 50 different craft beers from Micro-Breweries around the country to satisfy your thirst. Specialty beers will be available by samples or by the bottle.
In addition to the Wings & Beer, there will be a full slate of activities including a Hot Wing eating contest! Merchandise vendors will be on hand as well as other food vendors when you’re ready to take a break from all those Chicken wings.
Gates open at 3:00pm
Live music begins at 3:15pm with acoustic performer Marty Moss!
Charlotte County’s favorite The Boogiemen rock n soul revue takes the stage at 4:15pm
Direct from Tampa! The WingFest Headliner, The Greg Billings Band will light up the stage at 5:30 with a 90 minute performance!
