Location: South Shields Seafront, behind the skate park on Sea Road (near Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, NE33 2LD)
Ocean Beach Pleasure Park: Open from 12pm on the day with family rides and attractions operating before and after the shows at 10pm.
The seafront gets very busy; visitors are advised to use public transport where possible, plan extra travel time, leave pets at home, and do not bring private sparklers or fireworks.
To travel to the South Tyneside fireworks display on the South Shields Seafront, using public transport is highly recommended. The roads and seafront parking get incredibly congested on the night of the event. Taking the Metro is one of the easiest ways to bypass event traffic.
• Station: Head to South Shields Metro Station
From the station, it is a straightforward, flat 10 to 15-minute walk down Ocean Road straight to the seafront and Ocean Beach Pleasure Park.
An extensive network of regional buses terminates right at the main transport hub, South Shields Interchange.
The Stagecoach E1 service runs locally and stops right outside the Pleasure Park on Sea Road if you want to skip the walk from the town centre.
If you are travelling from North Tyneside, the ferry is a scenic and traffic-free shortcut.
