The South Boston St. Patrick's Day/Evacuation Day Parade returns for 2026! This historic parade commemorates both St. Patrick's Day and Evacuation Day — the anniversary of British troops leaving Boston on March 17, 1776. The 2026 Chief Marshal is Colonel Tim Murphy, a South Boston native and Massachusetts Army National Guard Chief of Staff. Since 1901, this dual celebration honors Irish heritage and military service. Organized by the Allied War Veterans Council of South Boston (SBAWVC). This is a free public event. Boston was the first city to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in North America in 1737.
