ABOUT

The New Jersey based jazz, alt r&b, and soul singer is the laid-back songstress that you need on your chill playlist. In her biography, it mentions that she “often uses shapes and colors to understand and describe different musical motifs and ideas'”, and that statement couldn’t be more true. Bymaddz discography is truly a work of art, singles such as “If You Try To Flap Your Wings” and “Just Be Friends”, both songs being from different moments in her career, not only showcase her ability but her evolving sound with a nostalgic sound.
In Bymaddz earliest discography, you can sense a more lo-fi, dream indie vibe to her music. But as the years progressed and she grew into her sound more, you can find her music to be more soulful, alt r&b like with a distinct bass line. Her music is the perfect blend of oldies, mixed with an alternative indie and dream-like vibe that has you feeling like a main character in a coming of age movie.
Bymaddz, the self-labeled “cosmic R&B” singer from New Jersey, has spent years carving out a dreamy, progressive, and rhythm-driven sound, and, with her new project The Marvelous Tales of the One-Eyed Imposter, has fully arrived as a transcendent and creatively dynamic artist, etching out her artistic vision through her inherent need to create.

As a child, Bymaddz was first exposed to music through the Motown and soul tastes of her parents as well as the alternative, punk and hip-hop driven tastes of her older sister. Yet, it was the 1997 version of Cinderella, featuring Brandy and Whitney Houston, that captivated her imagination, leaving her perpetually intrigued with the idea of singing and vocal expression.
This, later, resulted in an enduring interest in theater and the stage, a platform that allowed her to develop a comfort with both performance and utilizing her own voice.

ABOUT

Hello! I'm Fry! I'm a space cadet with a penchant for fantasy. My sound is a mixture of disco, pop, R&B, and rock, with influences including Jamiroquai, Mariah Carey, Janelle Monae, Queen, and Kylie Minogue. I'm known for my energetic performances, personalized costumes, and upeat attitude, and my main goal is always to entertain and get people dancing. I'm currently in the process of writing and recording new music, and I'm looking for places to play out for an audience. When I'm not working on my own music, I spend most of my time playing video games or performing in theater.
Notes: While none of my solo music is widely available on streaming yet (which I am currently working on), I sent a Spotify link for an EP that I recorded with one of my previous bands. I sang and cowrote this EP, and it draws from similar sounds and inspirations as my current work. If you'd like to hear my songs specifically, there are some performance clips on my Instagram, or I can send you some of the demos.
