Phill Fest – Guitarist, Composer, and Latin Jazz Artist Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and now based in Florida, Phill Fest is a gifted guitarist whose music seamlessly blends Brazilian and American jazz influences. Raised in a deeply musical household, Phill is the son of renowned Brazilian jazz pianist Manfredo Fest, a pioneering figure in the bossa nova movement, and a longtime Music Director for Bossa Rio, which opened for Brasil ’66 for three consecutive years. His mother, a composer and music educator, further enriched his musical upbringing. From an early age, Phill was immersed in the world of jazz, often spending time backstage with legendary artists like Sérgio Mendes. He began playing guitar at 16, building on his prior studies in clarinet and violin. His formal training includes studies at Music Tech of Minneapolis (1989–1990), complemented by a rich foundation of self-taught techniques and professional experience. A skilled composer as well as a performer, Phill recorded four albums with his father for Concord Jazz, each featuring one of his original compositions. With a style that effortlessly fuses jazz, bossa nova, and contemporary influences, Phill Fest continues to bring his unique musical voice to audiences worldwide.
