Conversations with Sea Stars: with Cynthia Pratt
Join us from 4:30-6:00pm on October 24th at the Puget Sound Estuarium as we focus on naming what we know about the estuary—what is there but then writing a speculative poem about the future: What we hope for; what we fear; if sea life could talk to us, what would they say?
Tidepools and Inkwells: with Emily Van Kley and Oly's Poet Laureate Ocean
Join us from 4:30-6:00pm on November 7th at the Puget Sound Estuarium for an exploration of attention, senses, and deep time poetics; each of us will come away with a few poems inspired by the local waters of our beautiful Salish Sea! Come write with the anemones!
Oyster, Osprey, and Orca: with Kathleen Byrd
Join us from 4:30-6:00pm on November 21st at the Puget Sound Estuarium to learn about estuary poetics and then share and write about the more-than-human-world of our home estuary: The Salish Sea. We’ll read estuary-inspired poems, share our own estuary images and stories, and write together. Each participant can expect to leave with a poem draft, a packet of estuary poems, and a deepened connection to our community and to our estuary.
SoundCore Anthology

All collected poems from these workshops will be compiled into a community-made zine that will be showcased at this free event!
