Sound, Reflection & Community - H\u014dngongoi | Tending the inner fire

I’ve been thinking about the old image of people gathered around fire in winter.
No rush. No pretending the cold wasn’t there. Just the simple intelligence of staying close to warmth and taking care of what kept people alive.
July connects with Hōngongoi in the Maramataka, a deep winter time linked to cold, fire, shelter and gathering.
That feels like the right place to go after Matariki.
Matariki asks us to look back, remember, give thanks and notice what the year has already taught us. July feels like the part after that, where we ask what needs to be tended now.
What part of you needs warmth?
What truth has come through recently that you don’t want to lose?
What peace have you worked hard for?
What inner fire needs more care, more protection, more honesty?
This month’s sound gathering will be a quieter winter space. We’ll spend time with the meaning of Hōngongoi, then move into sound, rest and reflection.
A few hours away from the noise.
A chance to come back to what’s still alive in you.
