About this Event

Rather than bucolic depictions of the countryside, the London-based Avice Caro (Maria Dearest) makes folk music that draws on fairytales and the strange folklore of the British Isles. Think stories of seagulls with mischievous smiles and 17th-century tales of lost love, sung in melodies that twist like creeping vines.Rather than bucolic depictions of the countryside, the London-based Avice Caro (Maria Dearest) makes folk music that draws on fairytales and the strange folklore of the British Isles. Body Orchestra is the brainchild of Vincent Curson Smith (Insecure men, Pet Deaths, Denh Izen). Body Orchestra regularly appears as a four piece ensemble featuring composer/singer Vincent C Smith , drummer Seb Bloom (Gionatan Scali, Bande Á Part, Tenderhost) double bassist Sam Hollis (Modern Nature, Fraszer Merrick) and violinist Beth Elliott (Kassia String Quartet, Nu Civilisation Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra) . After meeting when studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire - Smith, Elliott and Bloom discovered a shared love of improvisation and avant garde music, and brought in Hollis to form Body Orchestra.

BDRCHSTR explores improvisation, and recomposition, developing on folk or classical themes and exploring with sonic experimentation.

Vincent will be appearing solo

Josh Curtis is a London based multi-instrumentalist and composer whose genre-crossing music brings together classical and electronic music, underpinning introspective songwriting and spoken word.

Theatreship is committed to broadening access to the arts - we know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If the regular ticket price is beyond what you feel able to afford for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] and we will do everything we can to help, no questions asked.

We also offer arts supporter tickets, for those that can, to pay a higher price to support the venue, the artists who perform here and subsidised tickets for others.

Due to the historic nature of the ship, we’re sorry to say there is not currently step-free access into the theatre space. We have dedicated staff on hand to help with stairs, and an onsite wheelchair once you’re inside the venue. If you have any access needs, please do e-mail us at [email protected].
