About this Event
SoulWork: The Working Christian Community
Because following Christ in working life can get really hard.
Fed up with work? Frustrated with your manager, colleagues, customers, workplace culture, office politics, gossip or simply the system? Carrying anger you haven't had anywhere to release? Trying to make a difficult career or work decision? Wondering whether to stay, leave, speak up, keep quiet, push harder or simply endure?
Or perhaps work is going well, but somewhere between earning a living, building a career, meeting expectations, dealing with people and trying to succeed, you're asking: Am I still following Christ in all of this?
SoulWork is a space for Christians to talk honestly about the realities of working life. Come, let's talk, rant, vent, pray, recalibrate and strategise about the way forward.
We listen to one another, encourage one another, challenge each other in love, share wisdom, pray, retrace lost steps and remind one another who we are and Whose we are. We ask everyone to respect the confidentiality of what others share.
Sometimes we need practical advice. Sometimes we need to get things off our chest. Sometimes we need someone to challenge our thinking. And sometimes we simply need fellow Christians to remind us: don't lose Christ in the middle of all this.
We're not gathering because we've figured out the Christian life. We're gathering because we haven't. And we don't want to lose Christ while trying to make it through life and work.
Whatever the pressure, whatever the opportunity, whatever the disappointment, whatever the cost, we choose God, no matter what.
SoulWork welcomes Christians from across traditions and denominations. Come as you are, bring the richness of your faith, and let's encourage one another as we seek to follow Christ faithfully through the realities of working life.
What to expect
A relaxed, facilitated conversation where we can talk about what's happening in our working lives, listen to and encourage one another, reflect on our faith and pray together. Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure to speak.
Refreshments: Light refreshments will be available throughout the gathering. Feel free to help yourself at any time, and you're welcome to bring snacks or something to share with others.
