Soul’d Out Productions presents Maria Mazzotta at Jack London Revue on December 13.Acclaimed Italian vocalist Maria Mazzotta brings her powerful and deeply expressive voice to Portland for a rare performance at Jack London Revue. Widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary world music, Mazzotta has dedicated her career to exploring and reimagining the musical traditions of Southern Italy, the Mediterranean, and the Balkans through a modern lens.
Known for her commanding stage presence and emotional intensity, Mazzotta creates performances that are both intimate and transformative. Drawing from the folk traditions of Puglia, centuries-old vocal techniques, and diverse Mediterranean influences, she crafts a sound that feels timeless while remaining boldly contemporary.
From 2000 to 2015, Mazzotta was a member of the internationally celebrated Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, performing at major festivals and venues across the globe. Her career has included collaborations with renowned artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Ibrahim Maalouf, Ballaké Sissoko, Rita Marcotulli, and many others, while appearances at WOMAD, WOMEX, GlobalFest, SXSW, and major international festivals have established her as a globally respected ambassador of traditional and contemporary folk music.
