About this Event
Step behind the Sony FX5 and shoot like a cinematographer for a day.
This isn't your typical demo day. Instead of being at the counter, Midwest Photo is teaming up with Sony to bring you a curated, hands-on demo experience — not just a camera on a table, but a full mini cinematic set built for you to actually create with!
At our dedicated FX5 Demo Station, you'll find:
- A Sony FX5 mounted on a tripod, ready to shoot
- Professional lighting
- A monitor connected via HDMI so you can see your shots in real time
- A styled set of visually interesting subjects
What You Can Try
- Practice focus pulls
- Capture cinematic B-roll
- Test the FX5's slow-motion recording
- Evaluate image quality, autofocus performance, and depth of field firsthand
Take the 30-Second Cinematic Challenge
(There may be some free giveaways to those who try👀)
Think you can create a cinematic clip in 30 seconds? Here's the challenge:
- Record a 5-second reveal shot
- Capture a focus pull
- Shoot a slow-motion clip
Then watch your 30 second Cinema Video come to life on the monitor.
Try Sony's Monitor & Control App
We're also featuring Sony's Monitor & Control app as part of the setup, with a multi-camera configuration so you can see how the app fits into a real production workflow. Engage with the app during the event for a promotional discount code.
Why Show Up
- Hands-on time with the Sony FX5 in a real creative scenario

- Great for photographers curious about video, and videographers who want some dedicated time with the FX5, to see if it's the right fit!
Whether you're a working photographer expanding into video or a videographer looking to put the FX5 through its paces, this is a low-pressure, high-value way to get real time behind the camera.
