ABOUT THE HOST

Hi! My name is Ash and I am a lawyer by day and poet/writer by night.

I’ve been writing poetry for as long as I can remember, and started sharing my work on Instagram a couple of years ago under the handle @selahpoetry_. Now I share spoken word videos on Tik Tok too.

My poems are inspired by the everyday, by my emotions, faith, friends, and strangers too. You might find me writing poems for strangers on the street one day with my newly-acquired typewriter.

I’ve hosted poetry workshops and open mic nights before, for beginners and more experienced poets. I am so excited to host this upcoming Poetry & Tea workshop at Sabi Sounds, to give you space and inspiration to write poetry.

Maybe your poems will go on to become journal entries or songs or a reminder of your creative self!

ABOUT THE HOST

Hi, I'm Ellis. I love producing beats on Logic Pro and writing songs. I studied a Bachelor of Music Industry at Box Hill Institute, majoring in Music Production and Engineering, alongside a two-year songwriting elective. Music is my favorite hobby, and I'm a fan of all genres, from hip hop and reggae to jazz and classical. I play a bit of guitar, and I have a real passion for poetry and hip-hop-styled lyric writing. My lyric style is heavily influenced by my interests outside of music, especially politics, history, geography, and spirituality.
