Cook's Garage is hosting a concert to benefit the families of Sawyer and Roy, two kids from the Lubbock area who are facing brain tumors diagnosed in infancy. Sawyer’s Story: Sawyer is a brave 5-year-old who has been battling a large, complex brain tumor since he was just 3 months old. Because his tumor surrounds critical blood vessels and optic nerves, multiple leading medical centers have determined that
surgery is too dangerous. He has endured eight surgeries, years of chemotherapy, and significant vision loss, and he is now learning Braille and cane navigation. His family has seen encouraging tumor shrinkage and growth in his physical and verbal abilities since pursuing a different treatment approach, but much of that care isn't covered by insurance. In spite of these tribulations, Sawyer loves people, and he meets everyone with unending love and animated conversation.
Roy’s Story: Roy is a courageous 2-year-old who was diagnosed with an optic pathway brain tumor at just 9 months old. In his short life he has endured eight surgeries, seizures, supplemental oxygen, and countless medical appointments with eight different
providers. He is currently undergoing several therapies while continuing to face the challenges of his condition. Through it all, Roy remains a joyful little boy who loves being outdoors, exploring, playing with his favorite stuffed animal, ‘Piggy’, and spending time with his two older brothers.
