September artists/syyskuun esiintyjät: Stuart Ironside
Stuart Ironside (he/they) is a British guitarist combining classical technique with global influences and the sounds of nature to create a unique musical language.
Currently based in Estonia, Stuart is a graduate of Cardiff University and SOAS University of London. Through his studies of classical music, British folk song, West African Mande music and Javanese gamelan, Stuart has been developing his style of playing through exploring his connection to each of these musics and finding his own voice.
Stuart emphasises connection to the natural world, freedom in performance and embracing meditative states through his free-flowing mind playing and evocative sound.
Stuart’s second album, ‘Music from Somewhere Else: The Enclosure’, was released in December 2025. Recorded live in the forests of Northern Estonia, this album of arrangements, compositions and improvisations is a duet between Stuart and the natural world.

About Songscapes:
Songscapes takes you on a journey of original song compositions at Vapaan Taiteen Tila. Produced by members of the Global Music department at the Sibelius Academy, this project has been running since November 2024, inviting artists to share their own music and creative visions.
The idea behind Songscapes was born from the need for a space in Helsinki’s music scene where diverse, original songs could be heard and appreciated. Though often influenced by various genres, this music doesn't fit neatly into any one category.
While the term “singer-songwriter” or the Spanish “Cantautor/a” may come close, Songscapes explores a broader sonic landscape. Over the past year, we’ve experienced a wide range of compositions, each unique in its style and story.
This event has no public funding. Everything you see tonight has been created through voluntary work and community effort. All donations go directly to the artists and production team.
This kind of event exists only because people like you come, listen, and care.
To keep the scene alive and independent, we ask each person to contribute 7–20€ for the evening — about what you’d pay for a drink, a dinner or a concert ticket. Your support makes it possible to keep creating and sharing together.
Mikä on Songscapes?
Songscapes on yhteisöllisyyttä ja inspiraatiota – yhdessä koettuja hetkiä monimuotoisten biisimaisemien äärellä.
Jokainen ilta vie kuulijan matkalle Vapaan Taiteen Tilassa esitettyihin alkuperäiskappaleisiin. Tapahtumaa tuottaa Sibelius-Akatemian Global Music -linjan opiskelijat, ja projekti on pyörinyt marraskuussa 2024 lähtien tarjoten artisteille tilan jakaa omaa musiikkiaan ja luovia visioitaan. Songscapes syntyi tarpeesta luoda Helsingin musiikkikentälle tila, jossa monipuoliset ja omaleimaiset kappaleet pääsevät kuuluviin: musiikki, jota on vaikea lokeroida yhteen tiettyyn genreen.
Vaikka “singer-songwriter” tai espanjan cantautor/a kuvaa ilmiötä osittain, Songscapes kulkee vielä laajemmissa äänimaisemissa. Vuoden aikana olemme kuulleet upean kirjon eri tyylisiä sävellyksiä, jokainen omanlaisensa ja omaa tarinaansa kertova.
Tervetuloa kuuntelemaan Helsingissä toimivien artistien musiikkimaisemia, alkuperäisiä sävellyksiä ja uniikkeja sovituksia.
Tehdään tämä konsertti sarjaa vain vapaaehtoista töistä ja yhteisöllistä energiasta, yhdessä tekemistä. Kaikki lahjoitus tulot menee suoraan artisteille ja tapahtuman järjestäjille. Tällainen tapahtuma on olemassa vain koska ihmisiä, kuten sinä, tulee ja tukee livemusiikkiä.
Auttamassa meitä pitää tämä sarja ja skene elossa, pyydetään että voit lahjoittaa jos pystyt 7-12e illaksi, tyyliin mitä voisit vaikka maksaa kaljalle tai keikalle jossain muualla.
