Dig deep into the heart of the mountain and the hearts of the workers and their loved ones whose lives are carved from it.About this Event
Led by Marie Mularczyk O’Connell, the granddaughter of a Pennsylvania coal miner, this two-hour workshop will explore the continuing tradition of folk songs about coal miners, their lives, their work, their communities, and their unions. The primary focus will be on songs from North America, but there might be a short excursion to Great Britain.
Since this will be a workshop, there will be time for Q&A and comments, as well as multiple opportunities to sing along on choruses and refrains.
In addition to Marie, song leaders will include Anne Price, Ron Pecan, Debbie Rich, and Steve Suffet.
