East Coast DNA and Glasgow Square continue Songs From The Square — a monthly songwriter showcase highlighting Eastern Canadian artists in an intimate, listening-room setting built around storytelling, craft, and connection.
This edition features two distinct voices in contemporary songwriting, blending folk, acoustic, and emotionally driven songwriting in a focused, stripped-back afternoon performance.

Sadie Skinner:
Sadie Skinner is a folk artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia, blending haunting, intimate vocals with distinctive finger-picked guitar work. Guided by the name of the grandmother she never met, she explores themes of love, nature, joy, and the small, vivid moments that give life its spark.
The project of musician Sarah Roberts, Sadie Skinner reflects her deep roots in the local music community. Roberts also performs with Steel Cut Oats and with Alex Coley, and works professionally as a vocalist available for arrangement and recording projects. Through her evocative songwriting and expressive performance style, she continues to shape a thoughtful and resonant presence within Nova Scotia’s contemporary folk scene.
George Mooring:
George Mooring is a singer-songwriter based in Nova Scotia, blending raw, heartfelt vocals with stripped-back acoustic arrangements shaped by years of personal reflection. Originally from Mission, BC, he performs under a name inspired by his grandfather and draws on themes of love, loss, and the quiet moments that define relationships.
Alongside his work as Cole Chalifoux, the frontman of Bologna Colorado, he has carved out a solo sound rooted in honesty and emotional clarity. His debut EP Songs for Her was recorded largely on the sailboat he lived on during warmer months, reflecting both his connection to the water and his belief in capturing songs as they are. As he continues to build his presence in Nova Scotia’s music community, Mooring offers a compelling, intimate voice within the region’s growing singer-songwriter landscape.
