Songs for a New World is a contemporary song cycle by Jason Robert Brown, exploring the moments when ordinary lives are changed forever.Rather than telling one continuous story, the show brings together a collection of characters from different times, places and circumstances — people standing at a crossroads, facing love, loss, ambition, fear and the possibility of change.
Each song captures a pivotal moment: a decision that cannot be undone, a dream that might finally be within reach, or the realisation that staying where you are is no longer an option.
At its heart, Songs for a New World asks a simple question: What do we do when we find ourselves standing on the edge of something new?
Sometimes we leap. Sometimes we hesitate. Sometimes the leap changes everything.
