Songs Born of Tradition is a live performance exploring what happens when tradition becomes the foundation for something new.
Drawing from Afro-Cuban, West African and broader African diasporic musical traditions, Jordan Taylor Hill brings together live percussion, original songs, vocals, movement and storytelling in an intimate performance at Albany Center Gallery.
The evening moves between traditional rhythmic language and Jordan's own original music — from rumba and hand percussion to hip-hop, soul and contemporary sounds shaped by years of study, travel and performance.
This isn't a lecture or a traditional concert. It's a journey through the music, people and experiences that have shaped the work — and an invitation to experience where those traditions can go next.
