Sonderluss Soul has put a harmonica and a steel pan in the same band: Bill Thompson on harmonicas and Marcus Rattler on percussion and steel pan, with Charlie Harris on basses and guitars. They play originals drawn from funk, Latin, rock, jazz, and classical.
Harris has played for years with the Nashville saxophonist David Bosviet. The two recorded a soundtrack for a movie, and in 2023 they sold out a Kansas City concert promoted by the Folly Theater.
Several of the band's dates have been for someone else's cause: a benefit concert for Hope House at Knuckleheads, a night at Callsign Brewing that took donations for Honor Flight Network, and a Charlie Brown Christmas charity art event on McGee Street in December 2025. They also played KKFI 90.1 FM's 2024 Spring Band Auction, and the station has the video up on its YouTube channel.
Expect one of the more eclectic nights on the Blue Room bandstand this fall. Bands that won't stay inside one genre are a big part of what makes this room special, and this is one to catch.
