Sonar Sessions is a monthly Sunday evening event, showcasing artists in the genres of world, jazz, soul, acoustic & folk. Each Sonar Session presents a carefully curated lineup of live acts showcasing established artists alongside emerging local talent.Inspired by the melodies and rhythms of the natural world, Auka perform genre-defying original music on Irish flute & whistles, acoustic guitar and double bass. Auka comes from an Old Norse word meaning to grow or augment - a term that perfectly sums up the band’s organic and distinctive approach to music-making, where original folk melodies gradually swell from moments of delicate calm to those of frenetic energy.
Described as “one of the most technically gifted and expressive guitarists in Scotland.” (Innes White), Miguel’s music is tied in with a deep understanding and curiosity of the Traditional Scottish music landscape. Originally from the Portuguese Midlands and now based in Glasgow, Miguel has developed a broad style which swiftly shifts between accompanist and soloist, embodying edges of classical, jazz, and contemporary music.
