The Concert: The FUMC Chancel Choir takes the stage alongside organist Janie Greenway, guest musicians from the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and featured vocalist Hillary Howerton.
The Exhibit: Opening the retrospective artwork of Nederland artist Joyce Elaine Philen, featuring botanical art, watercolors, sculpture, and mixed media inspired by nature and sacred writings.
Reception: Stay after the concert for light refreshments, view the collection, and meet the artist!
Can't make opening night? Joyce's exhibit will remain on display in the church through November 15.
Artist's Statement: “Something Beautiful” is an exhibit of original artwork inspired by God’s beautiful world and the living beings that inhabit it. I have gleaned inspiration from sacred writings and other literary references that revolve around relationships between Creator and creations. It is my hope that viewers will see the physical images first and then see something else…known only to them…in my work. That is how I see it. — Joyce Elaine Philen
