After returning from joining Bret McKenzie on his debut solo tour of ‘Songs Without Jokes’; and releasing her debut single ‘Not Done Loving’ Moana Leota AKA MOZIE is excited to be bringing an intimate version of her much loved show; ‘Poets Before Me’ to Bedlam and Squalor.‘Poets Before Me’ celebrates the significance of poetry captured in some of the most highly acclaimed songs to date, including ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen, ‘A deal With God’ by Kate Bush, and ‘River’ by Joni Mitchell, as well as some of her original work.
‘Poets Before Me’ illustrates how these artists have utilised poetry as a vessel to infuse their music, resulting in it being rich, raw, and relatable. Moana explores how selected artists and their poetry have influenced her life as well as her artistic practice as a singer and songwriter.
Moana will be accompanied by the lovelies: Leonardo Coghini on Keys; Seth Boy on Double Bass; Sam MacKenzie on Drums; and Emily Paterson on Cello.
