Class Name: Teen/Tween Sewing Machine Basics

Cost: $60 per person
Take advantage of the school day off on November 3rd to learn a new skill! This workshop is the perfect introduction for tweens and teens who are new to machine sewing or want a relaxed refresher on the fundamentals.
Description of Workshop/ Class:
In this supportive, hands-on class, students will gain confidence using a sewing machine while learning sewing safety, how to thread a machine, wind and insert a bobbin, adjust basic machine settings, sew straight and consistent seams, and become familiar with essential sewing tools and terminology.
With guided, step-by-step instruction, students will practice their new skills while creating a 16” x 16” envelope-style decorative pillow slipcover to take home. All supplies for the pillow project are included for a $15 materials fee.
All sewing equipment is provided, or students may bring their own working sewing machine. Parents may attend with their child.
Please note: Project completion is not guaranteed and may vary based on individual pace and project complexity.
Parents are welcome to attend with their child. We ask that a parent or guardian remain on the premises or nearby while your child is participating in the class. The attending parent/guardian will need to sign a waiver prior to the start of the class in order for your child to participate.

Do you need to make a design choice for this work shop? (No, but you will need to bring or purchase a material kit for the class.)

· When engaging in any craft or art project, you may be using tools and materials such as sewing machines, cutting craft machines, irons, heat presses, glue and heat guns, kraft knives, glass, shells, and chemicals (this list is representative, not all-inclusive and other tools and materials may be used). By completing this registration and payment, you agree to knowingly and freely assume all risk of injury or harm, both known and unknown, even if arising from the environment or negligence of the property owner, instructor, or other and you assume full responsibility and risk for your participation.
· Any special needs seating or other arrangements must be requested in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
If you are registering for more than just yourself, you must make your guest aware of all the information included in this registration.

Cancellation policy: You will receive a credit toward another SMP class by the artist teaching/ hosting the workshop you registered for, if he or she is notified of cancellation at least one week prior to class date, No Shows will not be credited or refunded. Any credits issued will need to be applied to a class within 6 months!
Classes canceled by the Host or SMP will be eligible for credit or refund.
