Om SMK Fridays: Hjem del 1
I TRÅD MED VERDEN + ZAHNA SIHAM BENAMOR + SIDSEL ANA WELDEN GAJARDO & MELODI SOLTANI + SUADA DEMIROVIć + ART TALKS + KREATIVE VÆRKSTEDER + FILM + MUSIK + MASSER AF KUNST OG MEGET, MEGET MERE. ALT SAMMEN HELT GRATIS.

About SMK Fridays: Home part 1
I TRÅD MED VERDEN + ZAHNA SIHAM BENAMOR + SIDSEL ANA WELDEN GAJARDO & MELODI SOLTANI + SUADA DEMIROVIĆ + ART TALKS + CREATIVE WORKSHOPS + FILM + MUSIC + LOADS OF ART AND MUCH, MUCH MORE. ALL COMPLETELY FREE.
A home is more than architecture, concrete and bricks. It is a place of care and community. A space where everyday life unfolds — its conversations, rituals, joys and sorrows.
Join us as SMK Fridays, in collaboration with Community Art Clubs (Almene Kunstklubber) and the exhibition platform Til Vægs, explores the home as place, feeling and right. Drawing on the social housing sector, the practices of Community Art Clubs and Til Vægs, and taking SMK’s art collection as its starting point, we turn our attention to the many facets of home.
What is a home, really — what does it mean to feel at home? And what role does art play in our homes? Can it make us feel at home — or perhaps the opposite?
Over the past ten years, Til Vægs and Community Art Clubs have let art seep into the everyday lives of residents at AKB Lundtoftegade, working alongside a host of local partners. In stairwells, on building gables, on information screens and through shared meals, allotment gardens, podcasts, banners and actions in which neighbours have stood side by side in the fight for the right to — and ownership of — their homes. In the social housing sector, home is conceived as a collective and solidaristic framework. Here, everyone can live — and here, safety, belonging and community are not a privilege, but a right. Yet even here, where more than one million Danes live within a non-profit, collectively owned, democratic infrastructure, home is under pressure.
Join us as we use SMK’s art collection to explore home as right, safety, taboo and battleground — through everything from music and performances to conversations and installations. Together we dive into how the home has been depicted in art throughout the ages, and turn our attention to art that has stepped down from its pedestal and into lived life. What happens when art becomes part of the stairwell, the conversation and the community?
