About this Event
This presentation will look at the problem of modern buildings containing numerous independent and often proprietary systems—HVAC, energy metering, lighting controls, access/security, cameras, renewable generation, thermal storage and other equipment—that don't necessarily communicate with one another.
Brett's work integrates those systems so the building can be managed as a coordinated whole. He can discuss real-world examples involving electrification, heat pumps, geothermal systems, thermal storage, utility energy use and on-site generation, as well as operational benefits such as remote control and identifying equipment deterioration before failure.
For architects and engineers, the larger question is particularly relevant:
How do we design increasingly complex, electrified buildings so that all of the individual systems actually work together after the building is occupied?
