About this Event
Join the SM&SP Mario Kart 8 Tournament at the Rec Center. Food and prizes for the top winners. In-person registration will begin at 1130, stages/rounds will begin at 1200.
If you have your own Nintendo Switch, please bring along so we can have more than one (1) game going at a time.
1st place: $100 Visa Gift Card
2nd Place: $50 Visa Gift Card
Mario Kart Tournament Rules & Stages:
-You are able to utilize your own controller if you bring one.
-If you bring your own switch, you may have to play on another switch.
-Groups will be composed of 4 players max. (Number in group is dependant on total number of registrants)
-Groups will be randomly assigned once all registrants have signed in.
First stage
Each group will play 1 Versus Mode round with the following rules:
- 150cc race
- Teams: No
- Items: Normal
- CPU Level: Hard
- CPU Vehicles: All
- Tracks: Random
- No. of races: 8
- Allowed characters: All
- Allowed vehicles: All
- Smart steering: Allowed
- Auto-acceleration: Allowed
- Gyroscope: Allowed
- After the round is finished all players must put their controllers down so the staff can take note of the in-game scores.
- The Top players from each group with the highest scores advance to the next stage.
- In case of a tie for the last position, the players who tied will play 1 race on the Baby Park track with the same ruleset. The winner will take the position and advance to the next stage.
Second stage
- In this stage, winners from each group will be split into groups (number in group is dependant on total number of registrants).
- Each group will play 1 Versus Mode round with the same set of rules above.
- After the round is finished all players must put their controllers down so the staff can take note of the in-game scores.
- The Top players from each group with the highest scores advance to the next stage.
- In case of a tie for the last position, the players who tied will play 1 race on the Baby Park track with the same ruleset. The winner will take the position and advance to the next stage.
Third stage (final)
- All winners fr players will form a single group.
- The group will play 1 Versus Mode with the above ruleset.
- After the round is finished all players must put their controllers down so the staff can take note of the in-game scores.
- The Top 3 players with the highest scores win the tournament.
- In case of a tie for the 3th position, the players who tied will play 1 race on the Baby Park track with the same ruleset. The winner will take the position.
Na Koa Cup Points:
20 points per entry (max two (2) per unit, if more than two (2) per unit are playing, must designate point earners BEFORE stages begin)
1st place - 75 points / 2nd place - 50 points / 3rd place - 25 points
This tournament is open to all active duty Marines and Sailors attached to MCB Hawaii only.
