About this Event
Hosted as part of Marie-Claire Lacey's exhibition MUMS: A Shared Story of Motherhood
What is it?
A slow-reading event is a low-pressure, low-stakes opportunity to engage with our library materials.
Kinfolk Families will be on hand to give you suggestions and chat with you about what you’re reading… something inspire you? Let us know! Wanna know what we think about one of the books? Ask us!
During a slow reading event, we'll explore how we can have dialogue about the things in the library across time and space and if you can learn from a book without having to read it all… we’re trying out some new tools and techniques to figure out what that looks like.
Who is it for?
Our slow reading events are for anyone with an interest in family-making, radical care, or alternative or marginalised ways of living (intentional flat sharing, chosen family, communal living, co-operative living, intergenerational living, fostering, adoption, polycules etc. etc.)
All ages and all people receiving or giving care welcome.
On Arrival
Check in at Tramway reception when you arrive - the staff will direct you to the right space.
Buggies should be stored downstairs, under the stairs.
About Kinfolk Families
Kinfolk Families is a non profit, artist led organisation supporting research, production and sharing of work relating to matrescence, radical care and expanded notions of family.
Our focus is on adults - too often ‘family-friendly’ in used in lieu of ‘child-centred’. We ask, what does good programming & access for adults who are also parents or caregivers look like?
