Sleep and Suicide: An Evening of Education, Awareness & Connection
Join Black Swamp F.O.O.L.S. on November 11th for an impactful evening dedicated to addressing two of the most critical challenges facing the fire service today: sleep health and suicide prevention.
This educational event will feature presentations from Dena Ali and Brandon Dreiman, nationally recognized leaders in firefighter behavioral health and wellness.
Dena Ali is a Battalion Chief with the Raleigh Fire Department and Program Manager for Behavioral Health with the First Responder Center for Excellence (FRCE). She holds a master's degree from the University of North Carolina Pembroke, where her research focused on firefighter suicide. Dena is widely respected for her work in mental health advocacy and suicide prevention within the fire service.
Brandon Dreiman is a retired Indianapolis Fire Department Captain with 23 years of service and a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) clinician. He specializes in helping first responders improve sleep health, build resilience, and enhance overall well-being.
The evening begins with a social hour and dinner at 4:00 PM, providing attendees the opportunity to network with fellow first responders and community partners before the educational presentations, which conclude around 10:00 PM.
Attendees will also have access to local, vetted behavioral health and wellness resources, making this more than just a training—it's an opportunity to connect with organizations dedicated to supporting first responders and their families.
Dinner is fully catered by Hajjar Hospitality and is included with registration.
